Peel police arrest man accused of luring children using social media platforms

Peel police say a 35-year-old Midland man has been charged with child luring, allegedly using social media to contact minors for sexual purposes.

Peel Regional Police have arrested a 35-year-old Midland, Ont. man who they say was using social media platforms to lure children “for a sexual purpose.”

According to police, an investigation by the Internet Child Exploitation unit was launched in February into unknown individual who was allegedly using social media to lure youth under the age of 16.

The man, police said, used various personas, including “Maverick,” “Yxaikir,” “Ace.wilde,” “AceryZero,” and “MaveryZero.”

On March 16, Stanley Marion was arrested and charged with two counts of luring a child under 16 and one count of luring a child under the age of 18.

“Investigators believe that the accused may have contacted additional victims online and the investigation remains active and ongoing,” Peel police said in a news release issued Thursday.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Internet Child Exploitation unit at 905‑453‑2121, ext. 3490, or through Crime Stoppers anonymously.
