The suspect is described as 70 years old with white hair and wearing glasses.

The driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run in Mississauga on Thursday morning has surrendered, Peel police say.

A call came in shortly before 11:30 a.m. for a collision on Truscott Drive, near Southdown Road and Queen Elizabeth Way.

Peel police Sgt. Taylor Halfyard told CP24 that a white Ford pickup truck was escorting a wide load and travelling east at “a slow pace.”

“The driver of that Ford pickup truck exited her vehicle to stop traffic behind her, at which time, the driver of our suspect vehicle drove around the wide load escort, striking the driver of that vehicle and failing to remain at the scene,” Halfyard said.

The pickup truck driver was later taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver, police said, fled in a black Suzuki hatchback.

In an update, police said the driver turned himself in at 3 p.m.

They added that charges are pending.
