Brampton closed a large park in Bramalea on Monday night due to “large, unsafe gatherings and use of fireworks.”
In a post on X, Peel police said Chinguacousy Park, located in the area of Queen Street East and Bramalea Road, is closed effective immediately and until further notice.
“All individuals in the park are to leave the area,” police said, adding that officers are clearing the park and conducting enforcement.

Officers in green reflective vests were seen forming a line near the park’s petting zone and slowly walking forward, trying to disperse the crowd that had gathered.
Exploding fireworks could be heard in the park, prompting people to run away.
Peel police spokesperson Tyler Bell-Morena said no arrests had been made, but a “few people” were removed from the park.
Police cruisers, marked and unmarked, were stationed at each park entrance and were seen preventing vehicles from entering.
Brampton residents are not allowed to set off personal fireworks, including on Victoria Day.
