Police are looking to identify a person of interest in connection with a sexual assault that happened at a large-scale golf event in Caledon.

Officers say they were called to a report of a sexual assault at Osprey Valley on Main Street during the RBC Canadian Open at TPC Toronto on Friday.

A worker at the event, who was doing crowd control near Hole 5, told police they were approached by an unknown man who looked to be under the influence of alcohol and was being disruptive, according to authorities. Police say the worker told police the man then touched them in an inappropriate way.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries as a result of the interaction.

Police are describing the man as white, roughly between 40 and 45 years old, around 5 foot 11 to 6 feet tall with a heavy, unathletic and build approximately 230 pounds. Police say the man has short brown, buzz-cut hair, a brown scruffy beard and is wearing a white golf shirt with a grey logo on the front, shorts and sunglasses.

The person of interest was last seen leaving the Hole 5 area with a group of five or six people heading to the 13th tee box.

Investigators are working with the event organizers and viewing video surveillance from the area. They are asking anyone who might have been present at the time of the incident or have any video footage, to contact OPP or Crime Stoppers.
