A 22-year-old Brampton resident is facing charges and police are searching for two other suspects after three stolen vehicles were recovered west of Ottawa.

Ontario Provincial Police say officers received a notification from a vehicle security monitoring company just after 2 a.m. Monday about two stolen vehicles from the Peel region travelling eastbound on Highway 7.

“Officers observed the two vehicles, along with a third, all with no licence plates, travelling near Carleton Place on Highway 7,” police said in a media release.

“Officers were successful in stopping one of the vehicles and arresting the driver while the other two failed to stop.”

Officers found the two other vehicles abandoned in Beckwith Township a short time later and the drivers fled on foot.

An OPP canine unit and officers with the Ottawa Police Service tracked the suspects but did not locate them.

The Brampton resident is facing a charge of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. They are scheduled to appear in a Perth, Ont. court on Tuesday.
