A man has been arrested following multiple ATM robberies and assaults in Brampton spanning over multiple months.
According to Peel Regional Police, between the months of March and June, three robberies occurred in the area of Chinguacousy Road and Queen Street East.
Police allege that the suspect waited inside ATM vestibules, waiting for the victim to extract cash.
Once the victims completed their transactions, the suspect assaulted the victims and stole their money. Police said one of the victims was a elderly citizen.
On Tuesday, police arrested Sureshkumaran Rajaputhiran, a 34-year-old man of no-fixed address. He was charged with three counts of Robbery and held for a bail hearing.
In a press release, Peel Regional Police said they are reminding residents to be aware of their surroundings at all times, “particularly when using ATMs or handling cash withdrawals.”
