Mississauga couple identified in double murder, Canada-wide warrant issued for son

CP24's Steve Ryan has the latest on the search for a 46-year-old Mississauga man wanted in the double murder of his parents.

Peel Regional Police have identified an elderly couple killed last night in Mississauga, and say a Canada-wide warrant has been issued for their son in connection with their deaths.

The victims have been identified as 70-year-old Carol Sangwin and 71-year-old Garwood Sangwin.

Police have also issued a Canada-wide warrant for Jordan Sangwin, 46, of Mississauga, on two counts of first-degree murder.

The incident happened on Thursday at shortly after 7 p.m., where officials responded to a residence in the area of Lakeshore Road East and Hurontario Street following reports of an assault.

Officers then located two victims inside the home suffering from life-threatening injuries. They were transported to hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.

Police have not confirmed the cause of death. However, Insp. Mike Mavity confirmed outside the scene that a firearm was not used.

Suspect considered ‘armed and dangerous’

Police are advising the public not to approach the suspect and to call 911 immediately if he is seen.

“We are encouraging Jordan to contact a lawyer and turn himself in,” Mavity said.

Police have released an image of Sangwin, which Mavity said was from a previous police interaction, but he did not provide further details.

He is described as a white male with a medium build, short salt-and-pepper hair and clean-shaven.

According to police he was last seen wearing a grey long-sleeve shirt, dark shorts and carrying a black duffle bag.

Police say he is known to frequent the Lakeshore Road area of Mississauga.
