Police are investigating after one person was found dead near train tracks in Brampton.

In a post to social media, officials say officers responded to the Queen Street East and Theatre Lane area, where one person was located deceased in an area “adjacent to the tracks.”

It’s unclear what time officers made the discovery.

Investigators have not released any information about the deceased.

“This incident is currently being investigated as a suspicious death, however, the exact circumstances surrounding this incident are still unclear,” Const. Moulika Sharma said in an email. “Most deaths are considered supicious until the results of autopsy are made available.”

However, officials emphasize that a “large police presence” remains in the area as the investigation continues. Const. Sharma says police will remain on scene for an unknown amount of time.

Drivers and pedestrians are being asked to avoid the area.
