A pedestrian was taken to the hospital with critical injuries after being struck in Brampton on Saturday night, police say.
The collision happened on Bovaird Drive East in the eastbound lanes, just east of Highway 10.
Peel Regional Police said they were called to that area at 9:20 p.m.
Investigators said the driver remained at the scene.
They said the pedestrian was transported to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.
Speaking with the media at the scene late Saturday night., Duty Insp. Paul Dhillon said police, fire, and EMS attended the scene and found an individual who had been injured.
The victim, whom he described a male, approximately 60 years old, was taken to Sunnybrook Health Sciences centre for treatment, he said.
Dhillon said it appears that the pedestrian was crossing “in between the lights and not at a crosswalk,” when the collision occurred in a laneway, in the through lane.
Bovaird Drive East was closed east of Hwy 410 but has since reopened.
The Major Collision Bureau is investigating.
