Police seize opium, methamphetamine and heroin in Caledon drug raid

Provincial police say a months long investigation has come to and end and one person is facing charges.

According to Caledon OPP, an investigation into the alleged cultivation of opium began in the summer.

The OPP’s Community Street Crime Units from both Caledon and Muskoka joined forces to execute a search warrant at home in Caledon.

On Sept. 22 police searched the home and seized 184 grams of dried opium pods and seeds, one gram of methamphetamine and one gram of heroin.

On the same day, OPP arrested and charged a 35-year-old Caledon man.

The accused is now facing one count of production of a schedule l substance and two counts of possession of a schedule l substance.

The accused is scheduled to appear before an Ontario Court of Justice later this year to answer to his charges.
