Beloved Canadian actor-producer Ryan Reynolds is back, yet again, with his annual ugly holiday sweater fundraiser for Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children, this time as Deadpool.
In a video posted on social media on Thursday, Reynolds is in his Deadpool avatar, accompanied by Kidpool and the original Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter.
“Benevolence is thirsty work,” Deadpool says as he gets into a sleigh with Kidpool in the beginning of the video.
Their mission to “eliminate sick kids” seems to hit a snag because their characters are R-rated, until Carter shows up to help.
In this multiverse of madness, Carter spins to transform into her iconic DC character but ends up donning the “ugly holiday sweater.”
“That is one f****** ugly sweater,” Kidpool is seen saying to Carter.
In his typical dry humor, Deadpool blames the comic company’s lawyers, or “probably the same guy who got Cavill and that other Batman,” for the costume mix-up.
This would be Reynolds' sixth consecutive SickKids holiday campaign since he started in 2018.
The previous years' fundraisers yielded in more than $3 million to date, the hospital said in an email to CTV News.
The campaign has also brought awareness for SickKids' mission by generating more than 400 million media impressions, according to SickKids foundation.
Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively will match all donations up to $500,000 until midnight on Dec. 24, 2024.
