A 36-year-old woman from Toronto has been charged after allegedly assaulting a peace office during a demonstration in North York over the weekend.
The incident happened on Sunday near Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue West.
Toronto Police Service (TPS) said a woman attended a demonstration and “became confrontational with the opposing group of demonstrators.” They say that officers told the woman to return to her original area, but she was “uncooperative and then assaulted a police officer.” The woman was subsequently arrested.
Farah Ansari, 36, of Toronto, has been charged with assault peace officer. She is scheduled to appear in court on March 17.
