Toronto police believe three suspects are responsible for fatally wounding a man in The Annex and are urging them to turn themselves in.
On Sunday, just after 12:30 a.m., police were called to Madison Avenue, just north of Bloor Street West, for reports of a person who had been wounded.
At the scene, officers located a man in his 20s with life-threatening injuries.
Det. Sgt. Phil Campbell, of the homicide unit, told reporters at the scene on Sunday afternoon that the man’s wounds were “pretty significant.” He added that responding officers performed first aid and CPR on the victim before he was rushed to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Toronto police taped off a large crime scene as members of 53 Division along with the homicide unit investigated. Several evidence markers were seen on the ground and a large forensic services van was also on hand.

The identity of the victim is not being released at this point as police are working to notify next of kin, said Campbell, who would not elaborate on exactly how the victim was injured or if a weapon was used.
He went on to say that police aren’t revealing too many details about what might have occurred as they want those responsible to come forward and “tell us what happened.”
“We’re speaking with witnesses and canvassing the area,” he said, adding while they don’t have any descriptions, police believe three suspects are involved in this incident based on initial camera footage that they’ve obtained from the area.
Campbell said those responsible may not be aware that the victim passed away.
“I want them to know, if they’re watching, that somebody died. Whatever happened between this party and our victim resulted in his death. That’s somebody’s kid,” he said.
“Do the right thing, get a hold of a lawyer, and get a hold of us.”
Campbell also urged anyone with information to contact Toronto police at 416-808-5300 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
“We understand that an incident like this causes great concern in the community and that’s why were here to help find out what happened,” he said.
“We are appealing to the public for assistance. … If you were in the area at the time of the investigation or have any information that might help us, please reach out to us.”
The investigation is ongoing. Investigators are now in the process of obtaining more video footage from the vicinity as the force’s forensics team works to identify several items that were seized from the scene, Campbell added.
