Woman charged in connection with fatal collision in North York

A 67-year-old woman from Toronto has been charged in connection with a fatal collision in North York last month.

A 67-year-old woman from Toronto is facing a charge under the Highway Traffic Act after a pedestrian was struck and killed in North York last month.

The collision happened just before 7 a.m. on Jan. 9 near the westbound Highway 401 off-ramp at Keele Street

Police said that a 34-year-old man was crossing Keele Street north of the off-ramp when he was struck by the driver of a vehicle making a right turn to travel north.

The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition, where he subsequently died.

The driver, who was operating a grey Hyundai Santa Fe, remained on scene.

The accused was charged with one count of careless driving causing death under the Highway Traffic Act on Jan. 29.

Police are not naming the accused, as the charges they are facing are not of a criminal nature.

The charges have not been tested in court.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with additional information is asked to contact Toronto police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
