Toronto police say a man is in life-threatening condition after he was found lying in the roadway near Toronto’s Junction neighbourhood suffering from apparent stab wounds.
Police said they were called to the area of St. Clair Avenue West and Runnymede Road at around 3:25 a.m. on Monday.
Acting Duty Insp. Brian Maslowski said that investigators believe “the victim was stabbed in one area and then made their way across the street” to the location where they were found.
Paramedics told CP24 that the initial call was for a report of a cyclist struck in the area.

When emergency crews arrived, police said, the man was found suffering from apparent stab wounds.
Surveillance video obtained by CTV News Toronto shows a man limping across four lanes of traffic along St. Clair while holding onto his left side.
Another video shows a different angle, and the victim can be seen walking towards an autobody shop, clutching his left hip, while leaving a trail of bloody footprints behind.
A few minutes after the man enters the shop, he reemerges and collapses in the middle of a crosswalk.
A woman CTV News spoke to on Monday identified herself as the victim’s wife, and said the autobody shop is their family owned business. She said she became worried after her husband, who she called Dan, did not come home after work.
After she failed to reach him, she went to the shop where she said she was met with police cruisers and investigators.
One male suspect, in his mid forties, has been arrested in connection with the incident, police said.
It is not immediately clear what charges that individual will face.
Police are currently investigating the relationship between the victim and the suspect.
“As you can imagine this a very serious crime and we are interviewing witnesses, victims and we are reviewing video evidence so it is far too early for me to speculate (on what happened),” Maslowski said.
He said that the 55-year-old victim is currently in hospital suffering from life-threating wounds.
Police are looking to speak with anyone who was in the vicinity of St. Clair Avenue and Runnymede at around 3 a.m.
