Two people were rushed to hospital via emergency run following a stabbing on board a streetcar in Toronto’s downtown core Monday morning, police say.
It happened near College and Bathurst streets at around 8:25 a.m.
According to police, a 42-year-old man and a woman in her 30s who knew each other became involved in an argument while on the streetcar. The man allegedly attempted to pull the woman off the streetcar when another man in his 60s tried to intervene, police said.
The suspect then stabbed the other two parties, police allege.
Paramedics told CP24 that a man and woman suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
The suspect was later taken into custody, police added.
In a statement released on social media, TTC CEO Mandeep Lali noted that the safety of everyone on the transit system is “paramount.”
