Homicide detectives have been called in to investigate the death of a woman in Newcastle on Tuesday morning.
Durham police say that officers responding to an unknown trouble call at around 9:10 a.m. found a victim in their 60s suffering from “obvious signs of trauma” in the Farrow Avenue and Highway 2 area.
She was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

“Right now we’re just trying to determine what happens,” Sgt. Joanne Bortoluss told reporters at the scene Tuesday morning. “We are speaking with witnesses to determine who is responsible.”
Investigators say they believe this to be an isolated incident.
