No people were injured in a two-alarm fire that spread into two homes in North York on Thursday afternoon.
Emergency crews were initially called to 10 Gleneagle Cres. in the Highway 404 and Sheppard Avenue area shortly after 1 p.m.

When they arrived, crews encountered heavy smoke in the home and a car fully engulfed in flames in the garage, Toronto Fire said, adding the blaze also spread to the neighbouring 12 Gleneagle Cres.
“Area of origin so far, it looks like in the carport in between two houses,” Acting Division Commander Robert Hewson said.
“The flames were intense enough to start to impinge on the second house and light it on fire. Crews did work quickly, and the fires were knocked down.”

Hewson said two occupants in one home and one resident in the other self-evacuated and were not injured. Toronto Fire told CP24 that a pet was found dead in one of the homes.
The cause and circumstances of the fire are under investigation.
