As the Toronto Blue Jays continue to chase the American League East title to close out what’s been a record-breaking season for the franchise, their fans were hungry to break a record of their own Tuesday night.
The ballclub has confirmed that fans this season ate more than 826,308 “Loonie Dogs” this season—smashing the previous record of 727,819 set last year out of the park.
Presented by Schneiders, the popular event offers up hot dogs for $1 every Tuesday home game. And because this was the last “Loonie Dogs” night of the Jays’ regular season, Blue Jays fans, like the ballclub they were cheering for, seemed eager to end the season with an exclamation point.

A spokesperson for the team said fans ate 92,896 hot dogs last night. That’s just a few thousands dogs shy of the single-game, all-time record set on Aug. 26 versus the Minnesota Twins (96,633 hot dogs).
On the baseball diamond, the Blue Jays fell to the Boston Red Sox 4-1 in one of the last games before the playoffs.
Toronto punched their ticket to the postseason on Sunday with an 8-5 win over the Kansas City Royals. The outcome of Toronto’s, as well as the New York Yankees’, next five games will determine their seeding in October.
