Construction to renew aging streetcar tracks at King and Dufferin won’t be complete until mid-November, with streetcar diversions until then.

A lengthy closure of a busy west-end intersection will officially starts today as city crews begin work to replace aging streetcar tracks and watermains in the area.

The intersection of King and Dufferin streets will be closed until mid-November due to the construction.

The TTC noted that track renewal in the area was initially supposed to take place last year, but “supply chain challenges” pushed that work into 2025.

The 504 King and the 508 Lake Shore streetcars will divert via Queen Street West between Shaw Street and Roncesvalles Avenue and the 504B King streetcars will be cut short at Bathurst Street.

A replacement bus service will operate between King Street West at Joe Shuster Way and Kingston Road at Victoria Park Avenue.

The 929 Dufferin Express route will be shortened at Queen Street West.
