2 men in hospital following shooting in north Etobicoke

Melissa Duggan has the latest as police continue to investigate following a shooting in Etobicoke that sent two men to hospital with serious injuries.

Two men are in hospital after gunshots rang out in north Etobicoke on Monday evening.

The incident happened near Rexdale Boulevard and Kipling Avenue.

Toronto police said they responded to a call for a shooting in that area just after 7:30 p.m.

Police said officers at the scene found a man in his 20s who had been shot.

The shooting appears to have occurred in the backyard of a housing complex off of Bergamot Avenue.

Paramedics said they transported one patient to the hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say a second victim, also a man in his 20s, walked into a hospital with serious, but non-life threatening, injuries at around 8:15 p.m.

People are being advised to expect a large police presence in the area.
