Toronto police say two people are facing charges for flying drones over the Rogers Centre during Blue Jays postseason games.

According to police, on Saturday, Oct. 4 and Sunday, Oct. 5, members of the emergency management and public order unit used “specialized drone detection technology” to locate and intercept three unauthorized done flights over the downtown stadium.

Two people in possession of “micro-drones,” which are defined as under 249 grams in weight, were charged under Part IX of the Canadian Aviation Regulations and are facing fines for “violating the federally designated no-fly zone.”

“All drone operators are responsible for knowing and following federal aviation rules and regulations. For the most current information on safe and legal drone use, members of the public are encouraged to visit Transport Canada’s website,” the police service said in a news release.

“The Toronto Police Service thanks fans and the community for their continued cooperation in keeping the skies safe.”
