2 pedestrians in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by vehicle in Scarborough

Police are investigating after a crash near Midland Ave. and Tara Ave. left two pedestrians in life-threatening condition Tuesday night.

Two people have been taken to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Scarborough on Tuesday night.

Toronto police say the collision happened at the intersection of Midland and Tara avenues, north of Eglinton Avenue East, shortly before 9:15 p.m.

A silver Toyota Highlander was travelling north on Midland Avenue when it struck two pedestrians crossing the road, police say.

The pedestrians, a 15-year-old boy and a 19-year-old girl, suffered serious, life-threatening injuries, Toronto paramedics tell CTV News.

Police say the driver of the vehicle, a 62-year-old man, remained at the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the collision are not immediately known.
