Toronto police have arrested a second suspect in connection with a fatal stabbing in south Etobicoke last year.
In a news release on Wednesday, police announced the second arrest in the death of 36-year-old Jesse Christian Halvorsen on the morning of Sept. 12, 2024.
Halvorsen was stabbed during an altercation involving a group of people in the area of Lake Shore Boulevard West and Islington Avenue.
Police said Halvorsen suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he died shortly after. He is the city’s 60th homicide victim of 2024.
The day after the stabbing, police arrested 35-year-old Shawn Downs-Abbot and charged him with second-degree murder.
More than a year later, a second suspect, identified as 61-year-old Michael Jones, of no fixed address, was arrested on Wednesday and also charged with second-degree murder.
