Toronto police say Canada-wide warrants have been issued for three Ontario men following a shooting that left another man dead nearly a month after the incident occurred.

Kai Chen, 29, of Markham; Donald Keeshig, 29, of Toronto; and Kye-Shawne Griffiths, 28, of Brampton are all wanted for second-degree murder, following the death of 42-year-old Yueyuan Dong of Woodbridge, Ont., according to police.

It was around 10 p.m. on Sept. 24 when officers responded to a call for a shooting in the Sheppard Avenue East and Brimley Road area in Scarborough.

The victim, since identified by police as Dong, succumbed to his injuries weeks later, on Oct. 19.

In a news release Friday, Toronto police say they want to make the public aware of their investigation — adding that the shooting marked the city’s 35th homicide of 2025.

Police say it is alleged that Dong and Chen, Keeshig and Griffiths went to an establishment and were involved in a physical confrontation.

The suspects then brandished a firearm and shot the victim, according to police.

First responders performed life-saving measures at the scene, and the victim was subsequently transported to hospital for emergency treatment.

Police have released photos of the victim and the suspects.

CTVNews.ca reached out to Toronto police asking if the victim and suspects were known to each other, but police said they “cannot confirm that information.”

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted online.
