1 person rescued from fire at highrise in Toronto’s downtown core

Officials say an investigation into the cause of a fire at a high-rise in Toronto that sent one person to hospital is still under investigation.

No serious injuries were reported after a two-alarm fire at a highrise building in Toronto’s downtown core.

Firefighters were called to a building near Wellesley and Parliament streets at around 7:40 a.m. for reports of a fire on the third floor.

Two units were involved and heavy black smoke could be seen coming from the building.

One occupant was rescued by fire crews and multiple people suffered smoke inhalation as a result of the blaze.

One person was transported to hospital with minor injuries, police said.

The fire is out and investigators are on scene to determine the cause, origin, and circumstances surrounding the blaze.
