Courtney Heels is on the scene after an overnight stabbing near Queen and Jarvis sent a man to hospital in life-threatening condition.

One male was rushed to hospital with critical injuries following a stabbing in Toronto’s downtown core, police say.

It happened at around 1:50 a.m. in the area of Queen Street East and Church Street.

Police said a man in his 30s was found with life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.

A female suspect fled the scene on foot and was last seen heading east on Queen Street East, police said.

A detailed suspect description was not provided but investigators said she was wearing a black coat, a white sweater, blue jeans, a white toque, and white shoes at the time of the incident.

Police said it appears the victim and suspect were known to each other “in some capacity” and the attack was not a random.

Queen Street East is closed between Jarvis and Church streets for the police investigation.
