Police investigating daylight stabbing in North York, suspect fled scene in red van

Toronto police are investigating a stabbing in North York on Nov. 17, 2025.

An individual was found with multiple stab wounds following a reported altercation at a North York plaza on Monday afternoon, police say.

It happened at around 1:30 p.m. near Dufferin Street and Ranee Avenue, which is just south of Highway 401.

The victim sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a trauma centre.

Police say that the suspect fled the scene in a red van and remains outstanding. Police tape is visible in the parking lot of the plaza as part of the investigation.

The suspect is described by police as a Black male, in his mid 20’s, who is approximately five-foot-nine with his hair in braids. He was last seen wearing a black coat and black pants.

Police have not provided any information about the severity of the victim’s injuries.
