Downtown shooting leaves 1 woman injured: police

A suspect, described by police as a Black male who is approximately five feet, six inches tall with a skinny build, may have fled in a vehicle.

A woman was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds following a shooting downtown, Toronto police say.

The shooting happened near Mutual and Queen streets at around 10 p.m. on Thursday.

Police say they arrived on scene and located a woman in her 30s suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

She was taken to hospital for treatment.

A suspect, described by police as a Black male who is approximately five feet, six inches tall with a skinny build, may have fled in a vehicle, police said. The man was seen wearing a white shirt, grey sweater with the hood up, black pants and black shoes.

Police have not provided any information about the vehicle that may have been involved.
