The 2026 World Cup groups have been finalized, and Canada will play Qatar, Switzerland, and either Italy, Northern Ireland, Wales or Bosnia and Herzegovina in Group B.
But who will play in Toronto? The city is expected to host six matches at BMO Field, which will be called the Toronto Stadium during the World Cup.
Here’s a look at which countries will take the pitch in Toronto.
June 12
Canada will open its FIFA campaign on June 12 against the winner of the European Play-off Path A.

Italy, Northern Ireland, Wales and Bosnia and Herzegovina will play in the playoff tournament in March to determine which will face the Canadian men’s national soccer team, led by Alphonso Davies, in the World Cup.
Canada’s two other group matches will be played in Vancouver on June 18 and June 24 at BC Place.

Italy, which has won four World Cups, most recently in 2006, is looking to play in the sport’s biggest tournament for the first time since 2014. Italy failed to qualify in 2018 and 2022.
June 17
Group L match between Panama and Ghana.
It will be the second World Cup appearance for the 30th-ranked Panama. The team first played during the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Meanwhile, the 2026 World Cup will be Ghana’s fifth appearance. The team’s best result came in 2010 when they reached the quarter-finals.
June 20
Toronto soccer fans will get to see a Group E match next.
The 2014 World Cup champions, Germany, will take on Cote d’Ivoire.
Germany, along with Italy, has the second-most World Cup wins with four.

June 23
Croatia will face Panama in another Group L match at Toronto Stadium.
Croatia finished third at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and is ranked 10th in the world.
June 26
The final group match in Toronto will be a Group I clash between Senegal, which is ranked 19th in the world, and either Bolivia, Suriname, or Iraq.
Those three countries will have to fight for their World Cup ticket in a playoff tournament in March.

July 2
The final game at Toronto Stadium will be a Round of 32 match between the runner-up of Group K and the runner-up of Group L.
Group K is composed of Portugal, Uzbekistan, Colombia, and either New Caledonia, Jamaica or the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
