Police are on the scene of a pickup truck crash near Markham Road and Finch Avenue East on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025.

A man has been charged in connection with a single-vehicle crash in Scarborough that left a woman dead last month.

Toronto police said the crash occurred in an industrial area near Markham Road and Finch Avenue East around 6:45 p.m. on Nov. 5.

A 47-year-old man was driving a grey Ford F350 pickup truck northbound when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the vehicle and crashed, police said.

A passenger in the Ford, a 34-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

In a news release on Thursday, almost a month after the crash, police announced that they arrested 47-year-old Hariharan Navaratnam and charged him with dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death.
