A 44-year-old man has been charged after a 71-year-old woman was found dead inside a home in North York earlier this month.
Toronto police said they were called to a residence in the city’s Willowdale neighbourhood, near Yonge Street and Kempford Boulevard, just south of Finch Avenue, and located a woman.
Investigators say the circumstances in which she was found were deemed to be suspicious.
Toronto police have identified the victim as Tatiana Shamalov, of Toronto. She is the city’s 39th homicide victim of the year.
An investigation was launched and 44-year-old Imtiaz Ahmed, of Toronto, was arrested on Dec. 15 and charged with manslaughter.
He was scheduled to appear in bail court on Monday.
