Firefighters are on the scene of a house fire in Scarborough near Midland and Steeles. CP24’s Andrew Brennan has the latest.

Firefighters remain at the scene of a residential fire that broke out in Scarborough early Monday morning.

They were dispatched to Shallowford Court near Midland and Steeles avenues at 3:40 a.m. for reports of smoke and found visible flames and “heavy black smoke coming from the roof,” when they arrived, Toronto Fire told CP24.

The fire caused structural damage but ventilation had been put in place, the firefighters said, adding that the floor was damaged and was now “compromised.”

All occupants of the home made it out safely and TTC buses have been called in to shelter displaced residents. Fire services did not report any injuries and say a fire watch is in place.
