Toronto police have charged a driver after her vehicle ended up on the tracks of a GO station and was hit by a train.
Police say it happened shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday at the Etobicoke North GO station. A female suspect was arrested for impaired driving. The driver, who was not identified by police, sustained non-life-threatening injuries after the vehicle was struck.
A male passenger was also in the car but was not injured. Police say there are no reported injuries to any of the train’s passengers.
Images from the scene show that the vehicle came to a stop across the tracks before it was hit by an UP Express train. It’s unclear how the vehicle ended up on the tracks.
Metrolinx told CP24 that Kitchener and UP Express service was suspended following the incident, but has since resumed.
