Barrie police pulled over a white pickup truck after it made an abrupt u-turn on a hill near Bayfield and Grove streets.
After conducting a vehicle search, police found a cache of various knives, a loaded 40-caliber gun, and a significant quantity of Canadian cash.
A 26-year-old Toronto man and 45-year-old Toronto woman were arrested and face numerous charges including:
- Possession of a prohibited firearm
- Knowledge of possession of a prohibited firearm
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Possession of firearm with ammunition
- Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of prohibited weapon
- Possession of weapon while prohibited
- Both were held pending a bail hearing.
It was later discovered that the woman is before the courts on outstanding charges, and the man was her surety for her current release order imposed by the court.
She was also charged with failing to comply with probation and failing to comply with a release order.
