A Toronto firefighter has minor injuries sustained during the response to a call about a blaze at an unoccupied home in Scarborough.

A Toronto firefighter was injured while fighting a fire in Scarborough late Monday afternoon.

Toronto police said the blaze broke out at an unoccupied home in the Port Union neighbourhood, on Lawrence Avenue East, near Centennial Road.

They said they were called to that area at 5:45 p.m. for reports of a house fire.

No other injuries have been reported and the fire is now out, said police.

Paramedics told CTV News Toronto that they transported one person to the hospital with minor injuries.

In a post on X, Toronto Fire Chief Jim Jessop offered his well wishes to the injured firefighter, whom he said “required medical attention at the hospital.”

“We wish them a full and speedy recovery,” he wrote.

Roads were closed in the area and people were advised to use alternate routes.
