Police and firefighters are pictured at the scene of a collision in North York, Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025.

A 93-year-old man is facing charges after six people inside of a store in North York were struck by a vehicle last Christmas Eve, leaving one man dead.

Toronto police say they were called to the area of Dufferin Street and Finch Avenue West shortly before 2:30 p.m.

The elderly driver had entered the plaza, located at 4400 Dufferin St., in a Nissan Murano when, “for unknown reasons,” he allegedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a storefront.

A 67-year-old man died at the scene, police said.

Officials say two women were rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while three people sustained minor injuries, though they did not attend the hospital.

The driver and female passenger were also sent to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.

On Thursday, police charged the senior with three counts of careless driving causing bodily harm or death. The charges have not been tested in court.

Police say they are not identifying the accused as the charges fall under the Provincial Act.

Investigators are asking anyone with additional information to call them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
