Toronto police search for suspect accused of assaulting woman on sidewalk

Toronto police are looking for a suspect after a woman was critically injured when she was assaulted on the sidewalk on Thursday.

Police say the incident happened in the early morning hours of Jan. 22 in the area of Vaughan Road and St. Clair Avenue West.

After allegedly assaulting her, the suspect, who was not known to the victim, left her on the ground and fled, police said.

Emergency services later arrived and took the woman to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

In a news release on Saturday, police released images of the suspect, who is described as between 25 and 35 years old with a medium build and long black braids.

He was last seen wearing a black bomber jacket with NBA team logos, black Adidas track pants and black and white Nike Air Jordan shoes with white laces.
