The Queen Elizabeth Way was closed in both directions in Fort Erie for most of Thursday’s rush hour amid what Ontario Provincial Police were calling “treacherous road conditions.”
The closure went into place just after 8 a.m. and was lifted at around 9:30 a.m.
OPP say that the highway was closed between Bowen and Netherby roads as crews responded to numerous calls in the area for collisions and “stranded motorists.”
There have been five reports for vehicles in the ditch as well as another report for a collision between two tractor trailers, OPP say.
“Plows and salters will be working on the road. Be cautious driving through the area,” the OPP said on social media.
