2 taken to hospital after overnight townhouse fire near Jane and Driftwood

Fire crews are still investigating the cause of a fire at a townhome in North York that sent two people to the hospital early Sunday morning.

Two people were taken to hospital following a townhouse fire in the Driftwood Avenue and Jane Street area early Sunday morning.

In an email to CP24, Toronto Fire Services say crews responded just after 1 a.m. and found a working fire in a residential townhouse.

All occupants were reported to be out of the unit upon arrival, fire officials noted.

The fire was located on the second floor and was extinguished, with crews remaining on scene for fire watch.

Toronto Paramedic Services say two patients were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Two other residents were displaced as a result of the fire.

TTC buses were brought to the scene to provide shelter while crews worked.

The cause of the fire has not been released.
