A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting inside a Tim Hortons in Scarborough last week.
Toronto police announced the arrest in a news release on Tuesday.
The shooting occurred on the afternoon of Feb. 5 at the Tim Hortons near Lawrence Avenue East and Bellamy Road North.
Police said officers located 16-year-old Kian Sam suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Sam is the city’s second homicide victim of the year.
In Tuesday’s news release, police said the 15-year-old suspect was charged with second-degree murder, possession of a firearm without holding a licence, and possession of a loaded regulated firearm.
The accused cannot be identified under the terms of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

A makeshift memorial has since sprung up outside the coffee shop as people drop off flowers, teddy bears, photos, and even a basketball in the teen’s honour.
The motive for the shooting remains unknown.
