Two models of children’s and youth helmets sold across Canada are being recalled due to the risk of head injury.
In a recall advisory, Health Canada says consumers should immediately stop using two models of Outdoor Master-branded helmets.
The affected products are the OM-TD BIKE, which is blue in colour with dinosaur print, black padding, black straps, a black buckle and a black plastic knob at the back of the helmet, and the OM-KSKB, which is deep green in colour with black padding, yellow straps, a black buckle and a black plastic knob at the back of the helmet for adjusting the fitting.
“The helmets can fail to protect the user in the event of a crash, posing a risk of injury or death due to head injury,” the advisory read.
“Immediately stop using the recalled products and contact Outdoor Master for instructions on how to register for a full refund.”
The OM-TD Bike sold in children’s size small has a manufacture date of “05/2024” and the serial number “OM20240520.” The OM-KSKB sold in youth small size has a manufacture date of “11/22” and a serial number of “OM20240326.”
According to the advisory, the manufacture date is printed on a label inside the helmet, and the brand name can be seen on the back of the product.
Health Canada says 609 units of the affected products were sold in the country between June 2024 and February 2025.
The federal agency added that the company has not received any reports of incidents or injuries as of Feb. 6.
