The Ontario Provincial Police are currently on the scene of a fatal crash that took place Saturday afternoon on Highway 407, near Leslie Street.
In a post on social media, the OPP said the collision involved a fuel tanker truck and a passenger vehicle, which they believe was broken down in one of the live westbound lanes of 407.
While the car was immobile, police say it was struck by a tractor-tailer, and pushed to the right shoulder with the driver inside. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The area is now closed as officers investigate. Police say all traffic approaching 407 westbound to the 404 will be forced off, either northbound or southbound, onto the 404.
There was no indication of any injuries to the tractor-trailer driver.
Police don’t have a timeline as to when the lanes will be reopened but say it will be “several hours.”
Eastbound lanes are not impacted. Police urge anyone in the area to avoid travelling westbound on the 407, approaching Highway 404.
