Police investigating stabbing involving ‘acquaintances’ downtown

A 26-year-old man is in hospital after being stabbed near Moss Park Friday night.

Toronto police say a 26-year-old man was taken to hospital after a stabbing in city’s downtown core late Friday night.

In an email to CP24, officials say the incident happened in the area of Shuter Street and Sherbourne Street at approximately 11:55 p.m.

Investigators say there was an interaction between two acquaintances that later escalated into a “physical altercation.”

During the fight, police say the victim was assaulted and injured with a sharp weapon.

He was later transported to hospital, where doctors determined his injuries were minor and not life-threatening.

No arrests have been made and no suspect description has been provided.

The investigation is ongoing.
