The temperature in Toronto is expected to warm up following bone-chilling conditions to start the week.
A cold warning was issued, but has since been lifted, for parts of the Greater Toronto Area after Environment Canada warned of -30 wind chill values on Monday.
The yellow-level alert didn’t cover the city itself, but temperatures felt as cold as -20 with the wind chill.
Toronto will only see a high of -5 C on Monday, but the cold isn’t expected to last the week, said CP24’s Meteorologist Bill Coulter.
“While this has been a brutal winter for many, we’re turning the corner,” he said.
The cold is forecasted to pull back on Tuesday, when the temperature will climb above freezing amid a 40 per cent chance of light snow.
The mercury will continue to rise throughout the week and even reach the double digits by the weekend.
“We’re in a bit of a deep freeze, but we’re going to get out of it, not necessarily today. It’s bright, but it’s cold,” Coulter said.
“Tomorrow, we start climbing back to normal and then well above (freezing) for the remainder of the week, especially the weekend and much of next week.”
At its highest, the temperature will reach 11 C this week on Saturday, albeit with a 70 per cent chance of showers.
