Toronto police say a business in North York was shot at for the second time this week.

Officers were called to the GFL Environmental hauling yard at Weston Road and Fenmar Drive at 1:19 a.m. for reports of gunshots in the area.

Evidence of gunfire was located at the scene, police said. As many as a dozen bullet holes were seen through the main entrance of the building.

No injuries were reported and no suspect description has been released.

The business’ hauling yard facility was previously hit by gunfire on Monday. No injuries were reported, but the building was damaged. It was one of three North York businesses shot that day, but police haven’t said if those incidents are connected.

Last month, three of the waste management company’s trucks caught fire at its solid waste management facility in Etobicoke. The office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) is investigating that incident.

CTV New has reached out to GFL for comment, but has not yet received a response.

‘Clearly, there’s something going on between certain folks’: councillor

Speaking to CP24, Anthony Perruzza, the councillor for the area, said the incidents are “worrisome” for him and his constituents.

“Nobody wants shots fired in their neighbourhood. Not at night, not in the day, not at any time and whenever these things happen, alarm bells go up,” the Humber River-Black Creek representative said.

While Perruzza said it would be “inappropriate” to speculate on what may be behind the shootings at the GFL facility, he said: “Clearly, there’s something going on between certain folks.”

“We’re hoping, I’m hoping, that police will get to the bottom of it as quickly as possible so that we can go back to some form of normalcy.

The councillor said the shooting took place not far from his constituency office. He said he’s been told Toronto police’ guns and gangs unit is investigating and patrols will be stepped up in the area.
