Toronto’s freezing rain warning lifts

A freezing rain warning for Toronto and other parts of the GTHA has ended.

Environment Canada issued the the yellow-level warning on Thursday for the city, as well as several areas of Halton, Peel, Hamilton, Durham, and York regions. The national weather agency warned that the freezing rain could lead to “locally icy and slippery conditions.”

Environment Canada said ice accretion or build-up of up to two millimetres was possible, but that the freezing rain was expected to taper off around midnight.

Patchy or freezing drizzle could persist into Friday morning, they said.

The freezing rain warning came as Toronto is anticipating double digit temperatures—up to 16 C—on Saturday, following months of frigid temperatures and massive amounts of snow
