Durham police say they’re looking for five suspects after an assault near an Oshawa high school left a victim with serious injuries.
In a news release issued Monday, police said a school liaison officer responded to a fight at a high school near Harmony Road North and Adelaide Avenue East at approximately 1:30 p.m. on March 3. The high school was not named by investigators.
Police said five male youth then approached the victim at a nearby intersection and struck him with a “metal weapon” while physically assaulting him. The victim sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The victim fled back to the school and sought assistance from staff. The suspects fled the area prior to the arrival of police. No suspect descriptions have been released.
Investigators have not said what may have motivated the attack.
Police are asking anyone with cell phone, dash cam or surveillance video of the incident to contact them at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1615 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
