One of Canada’s most wanted fugitives, who is accused of murder in a double shooting in 2024, has been arrested in the United States, Toronto police say.
In a news release on Tuesday, police said Adrian Walker was taken into custody in Oxford, Miss., a day earlier.

Walker was listed as Canada’s 14th most wanted fugitive in a list compiled by the BOLO (Be On The Lookout) program earlier this year.
He will be transported to Toronto, where he will be charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder in connection with a fatal shooting in the area of Winona Drive and Vaughan Road on the early morning of May 7, 2024.
The shooting claimed the life of 31-year-old Trevor Dalton John. A woman also suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting.
Another suspect, 20-year-old Kemyan Franklyn, was arrested on May 30, 2024 and charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder.
Walker used an alias in Mississippi: U.S. officials
According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office Northern District of Mississippi, Walker had allegedly been using an alias while hiding in Tupelo, Miss.
“Agents with HIS (Department of Homeland Security Investigations) were able to determine that Walker had illegally entered into the United States and had not been inspected by immigration officials,” the release read.
After obtaining a warrant for an immigration offence and conducting a “multi-day operation,” officials took Walker into custody and subsequently charged him.
The release said members of the Enforcement and Removal Operations unit of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have placed an “immigration detainer” on Walker to ensure that he is deported back to Canada after facing charges in Mississippi.
“This was a serious case. A Canadian national, wanted for murder, entered our country illegally and was living in our midst,” U.S. Attorney Scott F. Leary said in a statement. “Seeking sanctuary in Mississippi is not a smart move.”
