Toronto police say the driver of a vehicle fleeing the scene of a shooting in Etobicoke later crashed into a fence about 10 kilometres away, abandonning the vehicle and fleeing on foot.
According to police, officers were called to the area of Lake Shore Boulevard and Islington Avenue at around 3:30 a.m. for the sound of gunshots.
When they arrived on scene, they found “evidence of gunfire” near a commercial property.
Responding officers attempted to stop a vehicle spotted fleeing the scene but the driver did not stop, police said.
The vehicle, according to investigators, later crashed into a fence near Eglinton Avenue and Royal York Road and the suspect fled on foot.
No injuries were reported.
The suspect has not been apprehended.
