Driver fleeing scene of shooting in Etobicoke crashed into fence: police

Police say a driver fleeing the scene of a shooting in Etobicoke later crashed into a fence and fled on foot.

Toronto police say the driver of a vehicle fleeing the scene of a shooting in Etobicoke later crashed into a fence about 10 kilometres away, abandonning the vehicle and fleeing on foot.

According to police, officers were called to the area of Lake Shore Boulevard and Islington Avenue at around 3:30 a.m. for the sound of gunshots.

When they arrived on scene, they found “evidence of gunfire” near a commercial property.

Responding officers attempted to stop a vehicle spotted fleeing the scene but the driver did not stop, police said.

The vehicle, according to investigators, later crashed into a fence near Eglinton Avenue and Royal York Road and the suspect fled on foot.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect has not been apprehended.
